Force '4G Only' / '3G Only' on your Android Phone
Introduction- There’s times when you want the best of internet speeds on your device, and if you’re in an area where the signal isn’t very strong, your connection keeps shifting between 4G, 3G and 2G. (This could be both because of the area connection, or because your phone receiver is just bad). Either way, forcing 4G only has proved to be good for me in such situations.
Nowadays phones don’t have the ability to force just one Mode built in to the UI. In the past with some devices, you would find these different modes available under settings. But Android allows much power, and you can fix this issue through free apps or tricks.
Method: Using the Dialer USSD Code
- Go to your phone dialer.
- Dial any of *#*#4636#*#* OR *#*#2846579#*#* OR ##626* OR ##786# (depending on which works for your device model) on your phone dialer and it will display the pop-up window.
- The first popup window might be the one below, usually displayed in dual sim phones and new phones, it would we headed as "Testing", to change "SIM1" mode tap on "Phone Information1", similarly for "SIM2" tap on "Phone Information2". If you don't get this screen, just go to next step.

- When you open Phone Information you will see a tonne of information and statistics, skip those and find "Set preferred network type" tap on it.

- Now depending on your location at times you might get good speed on 3G (H or H+) or 4G, this you might know by experience and if you don't have concrete information on this, you can try both option one by one, to set the mode
- 4G Only: Select "LTE Only" option.
- 3G Only: Select "WCDMA Only" option.

- After selection exit by pressing android back button/gesture and wait for 5 minutes for network to apply the new settings.
